Well I took a chance yesterday and did something I almost never - TopicsExpress

Well I took a chance yesterday and did something I almost never do. I commented on something I thought was worth commenting on - Christians gloating over a Colbert video interviewing Bible critic Bart Ehrman, claiming Colbert shredded him and that the video would induce cheering and uncontrollable glee - a victory for the team and all that. I usually refrain from expressing my opinion, but I find this sort of behavior and language so appalling and functionally unproductive in every way, that I spoke out. Many people understood my point. Many others did not, and simply contributed more noise on my stream, creating the unwanted byproduct of more examples of the inability to discuss Christianity in public with humility and winsomeness. Id like to be able to have respectful, thoughtful conversations about topics beyond music and what we are all up to vocationally. But I dont want to add to the noise and certainly dont want to encourage people I do not know or trust to contribute less than loving or helpful words to the discussion. I know, I ask for too much. Is this just the natural limits of something like Facebook? And that blogs are the better forum?
