Well I was going to post about how close I came tonight to taking the buck Ive been chasing for two years. Im not. I want to talk about how I get to pass the hunting tradition to my daughter tomorrow. While I say tonight I reflected on how excited I was on my very first deer hunt. My situation was much different than hers is going to be. I was 12 without a family member that hunted. My dad didnt and I had no uncles that did. My grandfather did but he passed away many years before I was born. I joined a hunting club that drove deer. A few if the members especially Jason Mascios father took me under his wing. I shot two bucks the very first drive and I was hooked for life. Tomorrow my daughter will hunt a little differently. We are going to sit in a blind that I have not hunted and will use my grandfathers Silver Fox Sterlingworth. NJ is a shotgun state and she will be the third generation to use it. Im not really sure who is more excited and nervous, me or her. All I have thought about is where is the best spot for this kid to harvest a big buck then something dawned on me. It doesnt matter if she takes a bruiser, spike or doe maybe nothing. What matters is shes hunting with me. Making memories, bonding and passing on a tradition and a lifestyle. Wish us luck on making great memories and maybe if we are lucky and god is willing a nice deer. -Louie
