Well I was sitting at my gate at Reagan National Airport in Wash - TopicsExpress

Well I was sitting at my gate at Reagan National Airport in Wash DC the other day and couldnt help but notice these dapper folks in spats, pin-stripes, anchors away dresses. Then some catchy swing music came on strong and a bunch of WWII vets landed at our gate. They came off the plane beaming, giving autographs and taking a turn on the spontaneous dance floor. I came to learn all of this is sponsored by a non-profit group called the Honor Flight Network. They bring all kinds of U.S. war veterans to D.C. to tour the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the National World WarII Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and other memorial sites, such as Arlington National Cemetery. Any vet in America can qualify and is brought in absolutely gratis, but they are especially concentrating these days on WWII vets as the youngest of these individuals who served are now 85 years old. As a matter of fact, an astounding 640 WWII vets die every single day. By the way, I learned on their web site (honorflight.org) that other sites do charge vets for travel to their memorials. Sites such as honorflight and honorflights are not the authentic non-profit that provides all flights and tours absolutely free. Our vets deserve such a service, for their commitment and for risking their lives for our country.
