Well... I went to leave for Walmart, pulled out on 1960 in Dayton, where the speed limit is 65mph, and there were 3 dogs in the road. One was a little puppy, and the others were older, it seemed. I pulled over, cause 3 cars almost hit the little puppy! So I tried, with help of another passerby, to get the puppy back in the rot iron gate it came out of, which looked like abandoned property from the lock and chain, all the high grass/weeds, and the broken down old truck parked off in it. The puppy kept going back toward the ditch. I picked it up, put it back in the gate, walked back to my truck, and it came out again, slowly. When I went back to it, I noticed just how many fleas were embedded in its fur, and how wormy and skinny it was. I couldnt leave it there; I panicked and wrapped a t-shirt from my truck around it, drove it home, and spent almost 30 minutes with dawn soap in the bathtub, trying desperately to get the thousands of fleas off of the poor thing. Luckily, the dawn killed them all, but so many were on it. I dried it and started pulling them off, then my mother in law helped me by giving it some milk. We put it in a BIG crate, and its going to be wormed and checked on tomorrow. I will need help with this little baby, poor thing just needs TLC. I cant take it back where I found it, theres no way... Anyway, I just wanted to say that I have never, in my life, seen so many fleas on one little puppy. Ever. It made me cry while bathing it! I just couldnt believe it. Praying for that puppy to get back to 100%, which should not take long, so we can find it a good home. Ill post pics tomorrow after work. I think were going to give it shots and the medicine for its skin, too...but if anyone can help foster or just give it a good home, that is also ideal! I know there are a lot of strays and roaming dogs out there... For some reason I could not just leave the little baby to get ran over or die from a sad, slow death from flea bites and malnourishment.
