Possible explanation of Genesis 7:11 ----- In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, that same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. ----- The fountains have been often though to be the underwater springs, but seeing this tells me there is no shortage of water for this event. The windows of heaven have been speculated as a comet passing by and skimming our atmosphere, as most have a lot of ice in them. This would chill the very humid air that existed before the flood (there probably was no rain, as --- Genesis 2:6: But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. --- and the first rainbow was seen after the flood). So the sudden cooling of the atmosphere dumped its humidity as rain.... Just a theory (sorry a personal hypothesis)
