Well, Im back from the Amazon. (Miami anyway) Its honestly going to take a few days to process all that I saw, the people I met, and experience I had. I will post my thoughts & pictures soon, but will need a little time to gather my thoughts. For now, I will mention a few highs of the trip....Went to a church service in all Spanish...Helped set up a way to pump clean water from a river that has piraña...Was stopped by the Brazilian military without a visa (illegal)...Let monkeys crawl all over me...Helped improve a well so it could filter out sand better...Learned a little Spanish...Shared the time with 3 women from Canada, one guy from Texas, one guy from NC, 2 women & two men from Columbia...(I do not have one single bad thing to say about any of them. They are all so genuine, kind, funny, hard working, easy going, unique in their own way and could not have went with a better group)...Guided a boat (from the front of the boat) through the Amazon jungle river at night with only the moon & two flash lights in my hands...Worked in a building with a wild Parrot over head in the rafters...Crawled up a river bank with 100# bag of concrete on my back...Bathed in the jungle with a soup bowl and a bar of soap...Played soccer with kids in the rain...Wrote in a journal for the first time...Slept in a hammock with a mosquito net every night...Ate breakfast in Columbia, lunch in Peru, and dinner in Brazil all in the same day.
