Well. Its 9:34 a.m., and here I am in the lobby of the University of Virginia Medical Center while Dylan undergoes his sixth -- and FINAL (or so the Germans would have us believe) -- ear surgery. Surgeries 1 through 5 were to reconstruct his outer ear. As I write, Dr. Bradley Kesser is creating an ear canal and an ear drum for Dylan. This final (see: Germans, above) surgery ties everything together and is the culmination of a process that we have been waiting 8 years to accomplish. This has been a journey in the literal and figurative sense: More than 20,000 miles traveled, and so many doctor visits, consults and research that I have lost track. The blessings have been many: Weve made lifelong friends (yes, Im looking at YOU Kelly, Scott, Patrick and your wonderful families), and weve learned so much about ourselves and our amazing son. God has been good to us. I cant explain it any other way. Every need has been met, every worry erased and so many blessings bestowed. Thanks to all who have taken this journey with us. I hope all of you will stick around for the end. I have a feeling its going to be kinda cool. Peace, Mark
