Well Ive just had a fairly mortifying conversation with my kids principal. I read with the kids once a week, last week I took them outside to read because it was a nice day, the classroom was loud and the reading room was full. Apparently that is a HUGE no no and I have caused quite the shit storm. He also told me that the teacher generally felt that I was overstepping in the class room and that I needed to remember who was in charge. HOW EMBARRASSING. I guess to be fair I probably am a bit loud and enthusiastic in there. I go in on a Friday afternoon and the vibe is usually pretty crazy by then, I didnt realise I was being such a pest which clearly I was. Sometimes I help them with their drawings/colouring instead of reading with them, that is also a no go zone. READING ONLY. I was afraid he was going to hang a red flag off me to indicate danger - like they do when the sandpit is wet.. I even had a little cry over it such is my embarrassment, not in front of him thank God. I really was just trying to help, they seem to struggle with parent volunteers. I feel sick now, I think Ill take to the couch. How embarrassing.
