Well… I’m just a little past the halfway mark of my stay here - TopicsExpress

Well… I’m just a little past the halfway mark of my stay here in Uganda… And I can’t believe it. Time is flying by and I sure hope that the second half doesn’t go by as fast as the first half did! I have been so blessed this past month. I’ve met wonderful people. I’ve seen beautiful places. I’ve been blown away by the love shown to me. And I’ve had my heart captured by these precious children. Most importantly, I’ve seen God through it all! I’ve felt His love. I’ve witnessed His compassion. I’ve experience His joy. And I am constantly being reminded that we serve a POWERFUL God!! A God who is SO ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine. Wow! It’s been an eventful month. So here are a few highlights… … I love Singing with the kids during evening devotions. Jumping, dancing, clapping, and singing all for the glory of God. … I enjoy walking them to school and picking them up… and I think it’s funny when their friends run by really fast to touch my pale, white, mzungu skin. … I love my fellow Aunties and Uncles who have each earned a special place in my heart! … I love seeing the joy of the Lord shining from the kids in all that they do. … I LOVE the African rain. … I’ve come to have a new appreciation for the dryer that sits next to my washing machine at home… But there’s still something exciting about running out as fast as we can to get the just dry clothes from the line seeing if we can get it all down by the time the rain comes. … Ugandan transportation… yeah. I thought LA was crazy. Ha! I’ve got to experience both Kampala taxis and Boda-bodas. (Nana… you can stop reading now. hehe) Kampala taxis are not like our taxis. They are not yellow. They are not small. And they are most certainly not spacious. They are the size of the Astro van I drove in high school, but instead of 8… they seat at least 16 and maybe a few chickens. Boda-bodas are motor cycles. There are like a couple million of them swarming the Kampala roads. You hop on one, say a prayer, and they take you where you need to go! …The Nile River is so beautiful… I got to dip my feet in the world’s longest river… But the Nile River and all its beauty didn’t compare to getting home to 13 children running into the van, piling on top of us, and welcoming us home with more joy laughter than you can imagine. THAT’S my favorite. … I got to swim in Lake Victoria. It was so beautiful. … African tea. ... We went to prayer mountain. Which was created to allow people to get away from the crazy business of life and pray to our Lord. It was so nice to get a chance to be still and get away and just be with Him! … We put on a talent show and I got to see 13 children do 13 unique different things. You see in the pictures… Little Esther and I got to show off our Hula Dancing skills to the lilo and stitch soundtrack. … On another (not so fabulous) dancing note. I got a brief African dance lesson from the tour guide and the Kings palace. Not my finest moment. ... And… I love each one of these kids SOOOO much!! I thank God for Joshua, Brenda, Joel, Fauziya, Oscar, Cocus, Carol, Annet, Emma, Esther, Jerom, Don, Aisha, James, Ruth, Hannah, Janat, and Junior!! And I LOVE the Lord who created them so beautifully and wonderfully! There’s far too much more to list… But you guys get it. It’s AMAZING!! I do miss home. I continue to pray for you all as you (please) continue to pray for me. Miss you all and Love you dearly! Xoxo, Chelsea
