Well Kimber had quite an eventful day today. In addition to getting her arterial line out she got to try the bottle today. She didnt do too great, but she did drink 3.5 ml so thats better than nothing! Theyre going to try again tomorrow and hopefully shell do better. She got her arterial line taken out, so I got to hold her again! But it was around then that she decided to be mean to me and her O2 sats started dropping lower than they want them to be. They ended up having to up her oxygen to 40% and are still trying to figure out why all of a sudden she needs an increase in oxygen. She was on 21% this morning which is room air. Theyre giving her blood to see if that will help in case her hemoglobin count is low, so they have to put in an IV for that. So, one line out, another one in. Also, the glue on her incision site started coming off in the middle and it was looking a little separated (they have a word for that which I cant remember) so the surgeon came and looked at it. He cleaned it up a bit and put some butterfly closures on it and also prescribed her with an antibiotic to prevent infection. So shes now on 2 antibiotics. Shes also still testing high on the scale for withdrawal. As far as I know, theyre going to be giving her morphine on an as needed basis to try to combat that. Not sure how theyll get her totally weaned off of it. So, we had a lot of praises today but still have a lot of prayer needs.
