Well, Netflix isnt going to have The Rare Breed available for a week, so they sent me one I havent seen before -- speaking of Steve Martin... This was a novella written by Steve Martin, produced by him, and the script was written by him too. A quietly tender, sweet and sour, very human film, Shopgirl. 2005. Claire Danes, Steve Martin, Jason Schwartzman. I actually had a date once to City Walk with the same thing happening! I had expectations of trying out all the fun looking places, but as it turned out, all we could do was walk because neither of us had money to do anything but. LOL I thought it was pretty well done, but there was kind of an obvious gap - no real motivation for Schwartzmans character to change, I thought. Being a roadie and trapped into listening to self-improvement and relationship tapes by the band was not a good motivation. There needed to be some kind of personal conflict that challenged him to make a decision in that direction on his own...IMHO... LOL Still, a rather unusual and very human film.
