Well Remembered Allen Collins Larkin Allen Collins Jr July 19th 1952 To January 23rd 1990 was one of the founding members and guitarists of Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, died of pneumonia after being ill for several months. Collins also co-wrote most of the bands songs (including Free Bird), with late front man Ronnie Van Zant. He survived the plane crash in 1977 that killed Ronnie Van Zant & two other band members. Collins was behind the wheel in a car accident in 1986 that killed his girlfriend and left him paralyzed from the waist down.
