Well!!! Some excitement this afternoon at the Ferndale Dollar Tree. When I drove up, a small truck had smoke coming out from under the hood. The fellow had pulled over, right behind another vehicle in the parking lot. A few minutes after I wandered around a bit in the store, the truck was rolling in flames, igniting nearby trees and melting its own tires. A gal with 3 young children (including a days-old baby) was kinda freaking out and asking if she could borrow a cell phone. Apparently he had parked behind THEIR vehicle. She used my phone, leaving a message with her husband and continued to shake and fret. After he called back, I asked if she wanted to go assess if there was any damage while I watched her boys; I have to say, I had a great time trying to comfort and distract them (especially the middle one who was crying). Its a blessing to be in the right place at the right time.
