Well Sundays Harley Road Trip turned out to be a disaster. We had Joes friends from the bank who have subsequently purchased a Harley join us , we had told then the Sunday trips are great. Half way en route my helmet strap loosened up , the wind was rather strong and I could feel it moving off my head. I grabbed the strap realizing I need to hold onto Joe with both hands otherwise I will be flying . Hand signaling to Joe that something was wrong he pulled off onto the side road. I quickly sorted out my helmet , thanked the bike buddy who stopped alongside us - Harley riding strategy. Needless to say we had fallen way behind and needed to speed up , trying to catch up with the group. The pot holes and cracks in the road were too terrible , every time the bike went over these cracks I was jolted in my seat from one side to the other. I happened to feel that I was sitting lopsided , knowingly well that I must not move whilst the bike is in motion I remained seated hoping a four way stop was not too far ahead. I thought we were the last bike of the group , apparently not! The HOG chairperson always assumes the back position. I never heard his bike alongside us just noticed he was instructing Joe to pull off the road. Well all hell broke out! He had pulled us over to tell me to sit properly. I gave him a mouth full giving all the reasons why I wasnt t sitting properly ! He then suggested I get onto his bike - a Harley Glider which has a far bigger seat. Joe gave him one of his emotionless glances and abruptly replied we are going home ! By this time I was in tears as I have really tried so hard to become a biker chick. . He climbed onto his bike and left us alone on a country road where heaven forbid we could have been robbed. I felt so bad , our friends had to have breakfast alone with the rest of the group whom they dont know. Im so disappointed in the HOG Johannesburg Chapter as I thought they are there to assist one not chastise one ! In the four weeks of attendance I gathered there are particular HOG members that are extremely self opinionated , bossy little warlords!!! . So not my scene - give me my Sunday gardening , what a pleasure.
