Well a miserable week for Scottish clubs in Europe was compounded - TopicsExpress

Well a miserable week for Scottish clubs in Europe was compounded last night when Aberdeen & St Johnstone joined Celtic in being beaten this week. The Dons with a difficult task in hand managed to get to half-time without conceding from the Spanish sides pressure but lost 2 goals without reply in the 2nd half. Not the worst result & although realistically most of us now expect the Dons to go out, at home in front of a full house, anything can happen. St Johnstone managed to score deep into stoppage time to help their chances when they go to Slovakia for the return leg but have to score at least twice after conceding two away goals. Can they manage that though? The match reports say it was pretty much a one sided affair. So our season hasnt even kicked off yet & all our clubs are almost out of Europe. The only saving grace is that Celtic will have a stab at the Europa League if they cant overturn their 1st leg defeat, thanks to the crazy safety net set-up UEFA has! It begs the question though, why was the SPL so quick to ditch the early season start that they brought in to help our sides be up to speed for Europe? It lasted one season, a couple of managers didnt like it & it was gone the following season. Should have stuck with it for a few years to see if it produced results. Agree/Disagree?
