Well... a slightly disappointing end to 2014, but heres looking forward to an AMAZING 2015! 2014 (our second year as a parkrun) has seen the number of parkrunners in Telford, grow beyond belief. 3960 people have now made Telford parkrun their home run and we look forward to crossing the 4000 mark, (undoubtedly) early in the New Year! Who would have thought that 2478 of you would have completed 11246 parkruns this year alone??? None of this would be possible of course, without the 299 volunteers who took their turn to make it happen! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, to all those who have helped out this year! 2015 sees a little trip away for me, but it feels great to know that we have an awesome Core Team of volunteers looking after Telford parkrun in my absence. Kim Fawke-Williams will be your Event Director, from March-September next year. Im sure you will all join me in saying a HUGE thank you to Kim, Sally, Emma, Sarah and Jon, who will be your Core Team for that period! :-D parkrun HQ have advised us that exciting changes lie ahead in 2015 and without saying too much (as I know very little), you wont be disappointed! parkrun HQ is still a very small team, who do an amazing job to keep an ever-increasing number of events going. I would like to extend my deepest thanks, to the team that not only brought parkrun to the world, but continue to give amazing support to us event teams! Town Park - I received a lovely email from Nicola (Town Park Manager) last week, who has asked me to pass on her best wishes for the festive period, to all of our parkrunners. Without going in to too much detail, there is a lot of frustration surrounding the new paths in the park. The short version - The material used did not perform how it should have and (partly due to a particularly wet spring/summer), it did not set correctly. This is partly the reason we are having problems with ice this winter. This is something that will be readdressed next Spring/Summer, so please can I ask you to remain patient and accept that there may be a little further disruption ahead in 2015. We are extremely grateful to Nicola and the Town Park staff, who let us use the park every single Saturday of the year, free of charge! Finally I would just like to say THANK YOU ALL, as without you, there would be no parkrun! Our parkrun isnt just an event, it is a family. There is a reason people speak so highly of our event and thats the runners and volunteers who make it (in my opinion) the BEST parkrun in the world! We hope that 2015 is your best year yet and the Richards family look forward to seeing you all on New Years Day at 10:30am! Best wishes! Chris - ED
