Well all and all Florida has been a great experience for me, the Red Heads (Mardi Gras & Ruthie) & of course Snack. It has been interesting being a groom over the last 10➕ weeks for these amazing ponies. Thanks to everyone that made this possible for me I have made so many new friends and strengthened bonds with some old ones. This past week has been a bit of a challenge to say the least. Unfortunately, Mardi pulled off a shoe warming up at Live Oak and got a bruise in his foot. The pair, driven by Carola Slater-Diener, had to withdraw after winning the dressage, advanced pony pairs at the Live Oak CDE. Than Snack and William Slater had to retire in hazard 2 after a spill heading to the B gate, (at the same turn that retired 2 and bobbled several other competitors) and a very strong showing in obstacle 1. We are just so happy that William, Carola Slater-Diener and Snack are all basically ok. Participating here in Florida at these three shows has been nothing short of amazing! I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity. On our way home now with one more slight snafu. The truck broke down 10:30 Monday night in Biloxi Mississippi. Just found out yesterday afternoon it is quite extensive (and yes of course expensive) looks like we will be stuck here for a few days....only dreaming of being stuck in Lodi again instead. Missing everyone at home. I want to just click my heels and be there....
