Well, almost at the end of another significant birthday, although most of the actual celebrating was done yesterday evening with a meal at our favourite, Barca Art Cafe in Tynemouth and an amazing gig at the Cumberland Arms in Byker featuring not only our favourite local band, Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra, but their guests the Wiyos, a highly original band from the States who pretty much defy genre (Country swing/ragtime/American Roots/Vaudeville comedic/ white blues ... no, I give up). Tonights video of them was made a couple of years ago when they were a five-piece rather than a three-piece band. Amazingly enough, when Arlene got talking to the bass player, Seth, they were amazed to find that theyd gone to the same school in Long Island, New York.
