Well as promised the answers to your questions and some tips for this seasons looks...... Lets start with the questions 1..how to choose your foundation Well in my humble opinion there is only one foundation and that is Giorgio Armani Beauty luminous silk. This beauty has won the best foundation award globally for the past 12 consecutive years and who am I to argue with that!!! If you are wanting a sheer weekend look just add a moisuriser like Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate to the luminous silk to sheer it down.Voila ! Luminous silk will stay put looking fab for up to 15 hours and to prove this one of my recent brides told me that her makeup was still amazing at 3am after 3 hours in the spa...enough said. Now,how to choose the right shade....never,never match your foundation to your hand, wrist or neck...your face is not the same colour. You are wanting an overall match so take a good look at yourself in the mirror just wrapped in a towel...assess your overall colour, are you beige or pink based?, do you have a spray tan and need to match your face to the tan? etc and then get a sample if you can to bring home from the store [oh,dont forget to slip in to something other than the towel before you go shopping] and match your face to your décolletage ...there should be no mismatch between face and chest and you need to test this in natural light not the lovely fleuro tubes of the department store. All good stores will happily give you samples to try.The other things to remember are 1] exfoliate and 2] moisturise..your foundation is not a miracle worker and will look much better if sitting on well prepped skin. 2..The importance and placement of blush Blush in my opinion is sooo important.Whenever I am at the supermarket I want to rush around putting blush on all those grumpy, dull faces that wander the isles. In a nut shell it makes us look alive! So lets deal with the whole cheek area.Lets say we have already foundationed, concealed and powdered and now we need to shade, highlight and blush to give contour to the face..see it is all a big cheat!!! First we need to shade under the cheek bone using a bronzer that isnt too dark or orange....my fav is Charlotte Tilburys filmstar bronze and glow, next we highlight the top of the cheek bone with a GENTLE sweep of highlighter...that would be the glow bit in the Tilbury filmstar, but my pretties dont get carried away with this step..a little is fab,a lot is tragic! If like me you are a product obsessive the other amazing highlighters are Charlotte Tilburys Bar of Gold or Kevin Aucoins Candlelight powder.Next we blush...for this step we need to smile to find the apples of our cheeks as this is where the majority of the product belongs before we use what is left on our brush to sweep outwards and up...see know you look happy and alive!!! If you are only going to own one blush product try Nars Orgasm, they sell one somewhere in the world every two seconds and it is universally flattering. If you wish you may now use the remnants of what is on your bronzer brush to add a teeny bit of product to your temples, tip of your nose and your chin..I mean really teeny. 3..Every day eye colours The most flattering and easy to use eye colours are neutral,so if you are only going to buy one lot of shadows make it an Urban Decay naked palette or similar. You can either use a paler colour on the lid building depth into the socket and under the eye or you can have your depth at the lash line and onto the lid blending lighter as you go which is commonly called a smokey eye.The smokey eye is more dramatic but the traditional application will always make your eye appear bigger. These are some of my most used colours by MAC in my kit, reasonably priced, easy to use and if you own them all you can create so many different looks for yourself... Vanilla,Paradisco,Amber Lights,Bronze,Brun,Honey Lust,Woodwinked,Vex,Copperplate,Greystone,Fiction and Carbon. They are a mix of golds, coppers, bronzes, browns, silvers, greys and black and are staples for any makeup junkie...have fun,add a brown and a black eye pencil to your kit,my favs are Aqua Eyes by Makeup Forever as they blend beautifully but once set will see you through a night of dancing on tables and a great mascara is a must,my two favs are Guerlain Noir G and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill.If you are wanting to push the boat out a little Tom Fords eye shadows are to die for but I will tell you more about those in a few days as I am off to Sydney and will be checking out the new seasons colours while there and Charlotte Tilbury eye quads are magnificent..try The Dolce Vita,The Rock Chick and The Vintage Vamp....well i seem to have waffled on ...funny that....so I will talk about new trends in a separate post my pretties and remember its makeup its meant to be fun so enjoy xxx
