Well as some of you may know fishing for me has been nigh on impossible over the last couple of months thanks to a badly broken hand!! and I have had to make due with watching Shez catch fish!! Well Saturday I went out for a dangle with Shez to see how the old hand would fare up if I had a go at actually fishing...decided to head to Southwold as would be comfortable fishing. High tide was about 20:55 and seeing as I didnt leave home until 7 I wasnt expecting much as I would have missed most of the flood. Arrived to a very busy Southwold, so parked the car on the concrete prom next to the lifeguard hut and fished from the boot. Had some cracking rag and lug, so set up a 2 hook boom rig with size 4s and a 3 hook flapper with size 1s both rigs with short, red amnesia snoods. Went with lug tipped with a bit of rag. Managed 5 chucks of no more than 40 yards as it was hurting to try and put any force into the cast. First cast resulted in a slippery snot of about 35cm!! the next cast produced a recogniseable nod and along came a 39cm codling, next cast a real aggressive bite which was a lovely 44cm bass, nothing apart from clean hooks on the next cast. Last cast I had the rod stood quite high against the railing when it slowly started to tip over the edge, I assumed it was just how I had it balanced and must have caught it with my foot, so I held it my hand and a few seconds later could feel some resistance so lifted into it and reeled in to find a plump 44cm codling. All fish returned safe and unharmed. I think the 2 old boys who were beside me thought I was using some wonder bait as they were still drawing a blank...saying that Shez also blanked lol. Made a nice change to actually fish and to beat Shez for once
