Well at the end of what I can only describe as a very long short - TopicsExpress

Well at the end of what I can only describe as a very long short week, I bring you the guys from Militia, another team competing in our Champions/Challengers Division. 1) Please tell us more about your team. Who are the players, coach, staff, etc. and give us some history. Well the team consist of the following players: Theo Harris, David Maxted, Neal Bernhardt, Jessica Li, Anthony Baatjies and Reece Mayberry. Then the staff are basically the players girlfriends and wife’s that always help out and a good friend of the team Mike Wells. The team started as a couple of guys playing for fun then they decided to take it more serious and a 5man team was born. The goal was to get to the Pro div and after finishing second last year in Div 4 we decided that we are ready for the pro div. This year didn’t start without challenges as a couple of the team members left and we basically had to start building a new team a couple of weeks before the first event. Through all the challenges the team bonded and is now stronger than ever!! 2) Paintball is a team sport, how do you get your team to gel and stay that way? We are very lucky to be one of those teams that everybody just gelled from the start and we are like a family. We all chat to each other almost every day on a social basis. 3) Please describe your team’s style of play. Aggressive, Defensive, a combination or is it based on a Pro team? Well I would say it’s a combination of the two as it all depends on who we play. Some of the teams we know our snake or Dorito run will work of the brake and other teams we know to get the G first. 4) What has been some of the highlights for the team? As a Team I think our first tournament win and as players I know some of the guys were star struck to meet Houston Heat and Super Cup last year. 5) Share one of the lighter moments you guys have had on the field. Let’s just say we have had our fair share of team kills and most of them have been head shots. 6) What goals have you set for yourselves? Short and long term. Well our goal this year is to play the Pro Challenger Div and learn as much as we can and build from our mistakes also to get use to the format (Race to 3) that we playing. Long term goal is to be a house hold name like Reaper, Dnx and All Stars and compete with them in the Pro Champion Div. 7) What does your training regime look like? Well we do drills and play a lot of quick games (30 Sec) against teams like Reaper and All Stars, later the day we will do full games. We found playing quick games work as you have to think really quick and there is no time to doubt yourself. 8) Will we ever see our top pro teams tour the country and show off their skills in the other provinces? Paintball is a growing sport, and I know there were a couple of Pro teams that travelled to a couple events in Durban and PE last year. 9) What do you think of all the new teams and players out there? How is the future looking for the sport? There are a couple of great upcoming teams and players out here and I think the future is looking very good for the sport as with the SARPL the sport is only growing. 10) Anything else that you would like to share with new players and new teams who would like to be shooting at you guys in the future? :p Guys don’t be afraid to ask for advice or help at your local field, also don’t be afraid to train against better teams than yours as it will only help your team grow and get the experience that’s needed for tournaments.
