Well done to all Harriers (or is that MDC/Mynydd Du...) who raced - TopicsExpress

Well done to all Harriers (or is that MDC/Mynydd Du...) who raced today at Fan y Big (in the CH fell series) - two of whom had done the double racing Pen y Fan the preceding day. The weather was pretty perfect for racing (unless your name is Andy Creber) - a breeze, but cloudy(ish), not too hot, and good visibility. James was first Harrier - and 6th overall in the race, in a mind boggling time of one hour 20 minutes, 17 seconds. He also scooped the team prize (MDC) with fellow club mates Hugh Aggleton (who won the race overall) and Chris Jones (3rd). Our very own Grubby was 2nd second in (!!) having had a fantastic run - which really just got going for him on the descent (I beat the old git to the top!). His time was 1.34.57. Go Grubby (he must have overtaken quarter of the field on his descent) Andy Stott was 3rd Harriers in, in 1.36.50 - him having breezed casually past me on the descent (as did pretty much everyone!) Dave Austin (the only other person actually running as a Chepstow Harriers besides Grubby) came in in 1.37.30, having raced Pen y Fan the day before. I came in just behind Dave (giving him a scare when he looked over his shoulder just by the finish) 6 seconds behind Dave. Quads wrecked after Pen y Fan the day before (excuses, excuses) Gareth Jones came home in 1.49.28 - and looked very chipper and not at all tired at the finish. Sadly Neil had a calf problem and had to pull out very shortly after starting - so we wish him well with his massage with Dai tomorrow and hope hes back in action very soon. Thanks for driving Neil - was great to have you there. It was very competitive today - about 137 runners started - Helen Fines was 3rd woman - which gives you an indication of the quality of the field!!!
