Well done to all USKFI members that attended our summer Kata course over the weekend at the Lucan Dojo. There was a fantastic turnout with over 50 of our brown & black belts in attendance. The course was split into various stages with each member having the chance to train with the USKFIs most senior instructors. Sensei Sherlock brought the brown belts to the next level and thought them the more advanced kata Kanku Dai whilst Sensei Royle thought Gojushiho Sho and Kanku Dai to the black belts.The second stage of the course Sensei Royle took the brown belts through kata Jion whilst Sensei Sherlock thought kata Jitte and Chinte with the Dan grades. Whether it was Kata for competition or grading our members received an in depth study into these more advanced katas and each member went away with a very good understanding on how to develop their katas. Our members had the added bonus of Sensei Jennifer Predergast assisting on the day and with her experience as our most senior international referee she was able to offer so much to our members on their kata performance. The USKFI would like to thank all our members for their constant support and dedication. Each member trained very hard on the day and even after three hours of hard work they still wanted more. Well done to all. Keep up the good work. We look forward to seeing you all at the kumite course coming up in August.
