Well done, you lot! Well, the deadline for submitting - TopicsExpress

Well done, you lot! Well, the deadline for submitting objections to the massive residential development in the grounds of Hamadryad Hospital has passed. In total, we have submitted 84 objections. in addition 12 comments also objecting to the proposal have been posted on the councils website. This of course, is in addition to the 350+ signatures that were collected by Ron Harris and Blueberry Bears nursery. By the way, if you missed the deadline for submitting an objection, its still probably worth sending it in. Its also worth noting that we also secured objections from Leanne Wood AM, the leader of Plaid Cymru, Stephen Doughty, MP for Cardiff South and Penarth, Eluned Parrot AM, and Vaughan Gething AM. At this point, its also worth noting that the two Conservative Assembly Members (Andrew RT Davies and David Melding) made no meaningful responses to our requests for help, advice and support. Next steps? Well, now we wait to find out when the application goes to the councils Planning Committee for consideration. Having spoken with the chair of the Planning Committee, Cllr Michael Michael, he seemed to think this will not happen before Christmas. However, well be hounding the council for the exact date until we get an answer - keep an eye on these pages for information and updates In the meantime, were cracking on with tackling a few more issues: 1. Parking We think the council will see pretty conclusive evidence from the objections that parking is a serious issue for people here in Butetown. We have therefore spoken with Matt Wakelam, Operational Manager at the councils Infrastructure Design and Construction Management department, and he has agreed to meet with residents to discuss parking issues, and to get an insight as to what issues we face here. This will help inform the planned, (but yet to be confirmed) upcoming review of parking in this part of Butetown. We have asked Cllr Ali Ahmed to come along to this meeting as well. As he is going away on his much-longed-for holiday between November 1 and 16, its likely that this meeting will happen before the end of the month. Again, well let you know through this Facebook page, Twitter and our very own carrier pigeon Ron Harris, when this meeting takes place. IN THE MEANTIME, PLEASE REMEMBER TO TAKE PICTURES OF ILLEGAL AND IDIOTIC PARKING AND POST THEM HERE OR ON OUR TWITTER ACCOUNT. 2. Damage to properties as a result of construction of flats on Pomeroy and James St. Jehu construction have been in contact with some residents, but we need to ensure that everyone is getting the same response and remedial action. We know that Cllr Ali Ahmed has spoken to some residents, but we think it might be useful to ensure that everyone is treated equally, so well be following that up with him and also the affected residents. On the same note, if you read any of the Hamadryad objections from the politicians, we made sure that they all asked the council to undertake a survey of properties BEFORE and AFTER any construction takes place. We will also be pressing the Council to ensure this is a condition on any development on the plot. Thats about it for now. Please LIKE and share this post - we need to ensure as many people as possible use this page as a way of sharing information about any issues that face the South Docks community, and pooling our resources to address and solve them. Thanks once again for your efforts - lets keep the momentum going.
