Well folks, you might want to skip over this one. Im about to reflect on the year that was, so it could get long and boring: First off, thank you all for the birthday wishes, they are all greatly appreciated and I look forward to another year with all of you in my life, to whatever capacity this world allows. Here I am at 32, with 31 mercifully behind me. I wont lie, my 32nd rotation around the sun was NOT my finest, so I look forward to the 33rd go round. Last year I lost my car, my job, a loved one, and I capped it all off with a few medical issues. BUT, I made it, and I came out of it all with my dignity..or at least my sense of self...mostly intact. It was a trying year, which has seen me as financially unstable as Ive ever been, and as familiar with canned beans and rice (theyre cheap and filling) as I ever hope to be. Next week I begin a new career and finally get to put myself back on track. I certainly owe more than a few people some thanks this year. My parents, of course, have been with me every step of the way doing everything they could for me, and have been letting me use their other car for months on end with no complaints (at least not any that arent justified). I cant thank them enough for everything. Ron Araya has shown more patience, kindness and understanding than any landlord in the history of landlords, which is good because otherwise Id either be homeless or (worse) 32 and living back at home. Thanks, Twister. The scar I have on my nipple merely adds protection over the place I have for you in my heart. Schuyler Schoonmaker if officially the winner of Roommate of the Year, and once I am finished paying off the debt Ive accrued this year, I owe you more than a few drinks. Many other family and friends have stepped up big to help me, and I love and appreciate you all. Mark, Jeff, Sarah...everyone who helped me out in any way, I love you all. That being said, 31 was not a TOTAL shit show for me. For the first time in over a decade, I got to work with TWO theater companies for the first time, and both my Marywood and Gaslight experiences were gratifying, enriching ones which left me with many fine memories and great new pals. I also tried my hardest to still do what I could when I could to help others out, rather than dwell on my own problems. Its a nice exercise in realizing that even when the breaks arent going your way, there are more important things in life than yourself, and you can still make a difference, even if its just helping someone...or everyone...move. 32 promises a new job (my best to date), a beautiful new niece in September, and a year of positive new memories. I look forward to it, and I hope youre all a part of it again.
