Well, for those of you who know that Chuck (Charles Hilliard) has lost the sight in his right eye to acute angle closure glaucoma, the latest news is that the pressure is up again in that eye and needs to be reduced again. On Monday, August 18, he will have another laser procedure to open up a second, and maybe a third, drain hole in the iris. (For those who dont know what this does, it acts like the overflow drain in your bathroom sink and relieves the pressure in the eye.) If this procedure does not do the trick, there are a couple of surgical procedures that are good options. Nothing will restore his vision but the goal is for him to be able to keep his own eye, without pain, rather than installing a prosthetic eye. We are thinking positive and are hopeful, as is his ophthalmologist, that this laser procedure will be the last he will need. If not, well take it as it comes.
