Well, friends, saw the surgeon today and he was pleased with my recovery. He took out the last stitch and said I could get back in my pool Saturday. No pathology report yet. They sent my sample to main Duke hospital to the lung pathology specialist. The surgeon again underscored the rarity of my condition, saying there really are only a handful of cases. But the condition is, basically, benign and I am still very encouraged. The tumor board meets tomorrow, and they will discuss my case. I am simply grateful to have access to the high level of care offered at Duke, that a whole board of top-flight surgeons and specialists will consider my case and render the best possible opinion......especially since there is no standard course of treatment for the condition. I am content to wait on that opinion and fully expect the path to be clearer by next Thursday, when I see the pulmonologist again. Please pray for that tumor board as they meet tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I am getting started on the she lived happily ever after part. I could breathe this morning. My heart beat. I could get out of bed. My son and husband are healthy and doing well. That--and God--are about all I needed to, indeed, live happily ever after!
