Well friends, the simple thing mean the most to us. I went in this morning and Jim was a bit on the ornery side, but that is because they are taking him off his meds. He still has very little fentanyl running for some pain and his antibiotics for his Psuedemonas. He held my hand and tried to communicate with me. Being the big hearted man he is he was more worried about me than himself. He lifted his ring finger and wanted to know where his wedding ring was. (Because his hands were swollen they had to remove it) I said I have it, then he pointed to mine and I said yes we are still married, he laughed and then he cried, He wants me to wear the ring....lol. Bless his heart. My sister and brother in law came for the afternoon. And then Jim wanted a mirror to see himself. He was worried what he looked like to them. He cries a lot and is obviously getting tired of all this and being unable to talk to us. He is still a bit delusional and does things out of the ordinary but I just play along so he doesnt feel strange. His platelets dropped just a little down to 45,000, his lungs are clearing up and Dr. Bermundez has scheduled open heart surgery for Thursday morning. Things can change before then but that is the tentative date. He will not be getting a mechanical valve because then he would have to be on Coumadin for the rest of his life and with the issues he has with Platelets, RBC, WBC and Hemoglobin this will not work for him. So they will be putting in another bovine valve. However this may only last him another 7 years. Being a transplant recipient will make this procedure very delicate. ( not that open heart isnt already). I will continue to keep you all updated. Thank you for the continued prayers!!!!
