Well gang the holiday movie season is full swing . Done if these films are going to be a hit & others a miserable FLOP! Im here to talk about the later. I would like to present a new post that I would like to share. CHRISTMAS TURKEYS. Every great director had one and these great filmmakers are no exception. 1941- Released in December, 1979. Steven Spielberg was on a role after hits with JAWS & Close Encounters of the Third Kind. So he decided to do an slam bang action comedy with an all star cast. What he made was 1941! The critics hated the unfunny and overblown production. And it was a box office disaster. The film also put the breaks on 70s maverick directors who were given too much leeway by the studios. The advantage of 1941 is it was the very first SNL film. It also introduced Second City TV actors like John Candy & Joe Flattery in their screen debuts. It also was the second screenplay written by Robert Zemekis & Bob Gale who in 6 years will work with Spielberg again to make Back to the Future. And Spielberg, well he turned out alright! youtu.be/6_KOLqpo7z8
