Well, gente, I am signing off for the moment, but I wanted to share something a bit personal, if you all dont mind.... This time last year, I was happily employed in Oaxaca at a nice University, with very nice co-workers, and beautiful students. I lived in a quiet countryside, where people were gentle and friendly. I was very content and very fortunate. A month later, I became seriously ill. I went into hospital. It was rough. When I came out, people came round with food, cleaned my apartment for me, kept me company, and even prayed for my recovery. I continued to be ill for several months. People continued to do what they could to help. Some people drove 1-2 hours into Oaxaca City, sometimes in the middle of the night, to get me to hospital when I was in very bad condition. The illness made it impossible for me to continue working. Sadly, I had to give up my job and return to America. I truly miss Oaxaca,the place, my friends there, my students and the gentle, humane way of life. Sick as I was, I survived, the people I knew in Oaxaca literally saved my life. I want to say THANK YOU/GRACIAS to everyone there for their love, care and concern.
