Well guys. My joyful time with the 2.5L has come to an end for now. Tomorrow I pick up a new-to-me VW to replace my old girl. This was a great group to be a part of, and even though this little engine didnt make much power, damn did it sound nice and was incredibly reliable. If no one saw my post on the MKV community page a while back, my project was hit over my winter break from school. A lady pulled out of a gas station in front of me, so instead of T boning her I did the best I could to avoid serious injury and went into the empty turn lane. This caused her to hit me instead. Hit me square on the right side A pillar. Nothing else I could have done. My car jumped, both front tires rolled the beads and went flat, and the engine cut out and blinkers turned on automatically. No airbags for either of us though (silly sensors) but we were both fine. And thank you for full coverage. But Ill be damned. That motor started right back up and purred like nothing happened when I pulled into the gas station on the other side of the street to get out of traffic. Due to all of the fabrication work needed to pull the A pillar back into place, the repair estimate was much more than the total loss threshold for my state. Im going to miss being active with everyone. Ill own another 2.5L someday though and will still follow the developments here in the group. But for now I need a set of wheels and managed to find a good deal on a 2004 GLI 1.8T 6 speed (basically all stock, no motors mods at all, low miles and timing and a bunch of other stuff just done, wheels are just dipped which will be peeled off tomorrow lol) so granted this car may be faster, my heart will always be with my first ever project and the motor that came in it. Ill still be around for anyone who checks out my vacuum pump DIY in the 2.5L forum on the Vortex as well. Cheers everyome! Ive learned more than I could have ever anticipated through this group.
