Well here we are in Florence! Those of you out there who have me high on the wimpometer because of my flying phobia need to reconsider and put me at the bottom now after driving us out of Rome safely! The drivers - of all vehicles - are mad ; the pedestrians are insane; the traffic lights are temperamental and the road signs suffer from directional dyslexia! All this is bad enough but then ther are the cars triple-parked on a two lane ring road and you will have some small idea of the ducking and diving needed to escape Rome. Once on the autostrada it was quite delightful driving through Umbria into Tuscany - everything I thought it would be and then so much easier to find our way to this splendid hotel. We have a room on the 6th floor!
