Well here we are on Day 21, of Matthews recovery since his surgery & we are still amazed at the surprises we get! Today, his oxygen levels were a bit lower than they have been, CO2 was up again, but liver enzymes continue to go down! Just when we thought he was going to have to get a new picc line put in with radiology (we had our refresher class on iv training & the supplies sign, sealed, & delivered to his room) when the nurse said there was no need for any of that he was going home on oral antibiotics-NO IV!!! What another surprise @ answer to prayer! To top it off, though it was a real struggle for Matt to complete, he was able to walk 25 laps throughout the day- the most hes ever done! This was a major task for him since his feet are still painful & red at times, as well as his calves were hurting today too. But he walked down that hallway, smiling to everyone he met & knowing that at the end of the day no matter how sore or bad he felt, he was stronger than yesterday! Also, tomorrow theres a good chance theyll be discharging him! Lets hope theres no more surprises to delay him from coming home!!!
