Well if all goes through as tentatively planned, we should be - TopicsExpress

Well if all goes through as tentatively planned, we should be busting out of Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt tomorrow! However, if any unexpected symptoms or situations occur, it may be Wednesday. But things are looking good!!! We will spend the balance of our 100 days post-transplant (currently at 34 days) at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) here in Nashville. The start of the steroids over the weekend have relaxed the excited donor cells and the graft-vs.-host disease so Tylers vomiting has all but stopped. What a relief. However, the steroids also lower his immune system further so we have to keep an extra watchful eye on that. Today I had plenty of hospital discharge instructions, along with a few more nursing skills and pharmaceutical review. Tylers med chart is huge. Also yesterday and today I moved most of our belongings to the Ronald McDonald House, and this evening I made a big grocery store trip to stock up the place up for our arrival. Its just like starting over in a new apartment. Im sure Ill reach for things that just wont be there..like salt & pepper, come to think of it.... lol. It will be nice to be able to be outside when we feel like it....and it will be quieter in our room....but it will also be difficult without the underlying security and support of the wonderful staff, especially the nurses! We started taking a bunch of staff pictures today which I will get posted tomorrow. I hate well miss a few people with the timing of our departure :( While we may bump into a couple during our twice- or more-weekly clinic visits, its very hard to say goodbye or give enough thanks to these people. I wish there was more I could do to show them how much they mean to us. After we are discharged, we will be in clinic about twice a week for appointments (check ups, blood work, vitals, etc.) to keep close track of things. And then we just wait and see! We still do not have the donor percentage results from last weeks biopsy - by the end of the week, hopefully. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to get everyone updated. Prayers for a good nights rest for all and a smooth transition tomorrow. Xo
