Well if youve guessed Im in a shitty mood today, youd be exactly right! I just dont get why this Obamacare bullshit is supposed to be so affordable to everybody! First of all, you cant qualify for it if the company you or your spouse works for offers health insurance. Second of all, even if they didnt, I checked the rates and almost choked on what mine would be! Soooo, I was left to take out the company insurance (that I couldnt afford in the first place). Now, let me give you a slight review of this affordable health care system. First of all, we have the stupid network crap we have to deal with which means, even though WE pay for the insurance, THEY get to tell us who we have to see. Now, once you find somebody in the network, you pay a co-pay each time you visit the dr PLUS any deductible you have with their policy. Now, when my Cardiologist wanted me to have a stress test, they scheduled the appointment but when the lady contacted me she informed me that although my insurance would cover this 100% after the deductible was met, they wouldnt cover it for me because mine wasnt met yet. Therefore, I would have to pay at least $500 the day of the test. I (not so politely) told her to scratch that appointment off her list because if I could pull $500 out my ass I wouldnt be paying for the high dollar insurance! So, then, I was told that I needed a sleep study done because my oxygen level dropped down to 70 on the overnight oxygen concentration test. So, they scheduled me with an in-home study. The lady from the office calls me and since they werent in the network, they wouldnt cover. Back to calling the clinic back with the list of sleep disorder docs in our network. I finally get a call back from one of them and at this point was informed that my insurance would only cover in-home testing and none of the providers in the network did in-home. It was all clinic studies. EXCUSE ME??? Talk about getting the dam run-around! This doesnt count all of the meds that they refuse to cover and Im left with having to pay that out of pocket, which, by the way, I cant count toward my deductible! In the meantime, another in-home study company contacts me and said that they were going in circles with the insurance company trying to get me some benefits for the test. No luck! So, this would run $280. Now, since the provider isnt in our network, guess what??? I CANT COUNT THAT TOWARD MY DEDUCTIBLE!!!! Now, the Pulmonologist was NOT happy with the insurance companys attitude toward this and said that I really needed this done so they were gonna try from HIS office since they set these up all the time. I filled out and answered what I needed to and left it to them to deal with. Ive just simply had enough headache dealing with this dam insurance bullshit. You know whats REALLY sad??? When I was going through cardio issues, my heart attack, the cancer, chemo and all of the other things that go along with it, I NEVER had a problem getting anything done that was needed! Never once did they tell me I had to pay up front before I had anything done or saw a dr! It has only been since all of this affordable health care for everybody hit that I have been jumping through hoops and STILL not getting the medical care I need! Now, Im thinking that the penalty that I have to pay at the end of the year may be better than NOT having the proper health care that I need! I think Id rather do my own thing and know I get what I need than to deal with this Obamacare bullshit that just lines pockets of those that dont even need it! Ill take the good health care I WAS getting! You can keep the CHANGE!
