Well, in just a few days both my daughters, Leah Heimbach and Anna Heimbach move back to their respective colleges, dorm rooms, and apartments. I feel like Ive tugged, lugged, toted, grunted, and dragged furniture, boxes, mirrors, refrigerators, tables, furniture, what-nots, and what-ifs from the carport to the truck to the house back to the truck back to the carport and ultimately back into the house. I feel like a cross between Fred Sanford and a band of gypsies. But . . . I have loved every minute of it. Every time I move them, the realization continues to set in that they are growing up and becoming more and more independent. Many parents probably share the same feelings of joy and anxiety that I am experiencing. I want you to know that Im praying for you as well. Enjoy the moment and the moments to come. Im so thankful for both my girls and this special time in their lives. There isnt a day that goes by that my prayers for my girls arent lifted before the Lord. As I think about my girls and their preparing to head back to school, my heart also reflects on the dozens of other students going off to college, some for the first time. I want you to know that I love you and will be praying for you. There will be some overwhelmingly exciting moments and some times that you are going to just feel overwhelmed. Dont lose heart. Remember just how much God loves you and know that He is forever faithful. You can trust Him with your best and with the worst. Dont make the mistake of thinking that you can go it alone -- you wont make it. Never lose sight of who He is and what He wants to do in your life. I love the song by Matt Redman, Never Once, and want to share it with you as way of encouraging you to trust the faithfulness and grace of our loving God. He will never fail you; He will never forsake you; and He will never abandon you. Everyday breathe in his grace and evermore breathe out your praise to Him. There will never be a moment that God is not there; I encourage you to live your life with the knowledge that He is there. If you live your life in that way, youll be amazed at how that knowledge will guide your decisions. Knowing He is near will shape your actions, your attitudes, and your relationships. Im going to try and tag as many college students as possible. I apologize if I miss anyone, but please feel free to forward on to other students. I love each of you and Im looking forward to seeing what God does in and through those who are surrendered totally to Him.
