Well it has been a hell of a day. The hatch door in my car - TopicsExpress

Well it has been a hell of a day. The hatch door in my car sometimes when opened slides down very slowly, sometimes it stays up fine. When it doesnt stay up all the way I am always banging my head on it. It comes down about 4 inches. This morning I was getting the traps in the car and the food boxes etc and the door lowered a little so I wedged a can of cat food in the corner to make the door stay up. When I was finished and on my way I forgot the can was there and pulled the door down hard to close it. Well the force of it coming down and the can stopping it made the lift support make a big swooch sound. I pulled the dented can out and the door slammed shut right out of my hand. Popped the seal. Now the door that weights about 60 lbs will not stay up at all and it is extremely heavy. At my third colony I raised the door and was having a hard time holding it up with my left hand while trying to grab two boxes of food with my right. I let go of the hatch with my left while leaning into get the boxes and BAM the 60 lb door came slamming down on my head. It sent me flying onto the ground. I am not sure if it knocked me out or not. After getting up off the ground my head was hurting. I sat there for quite awhile. Think I might have even cried. I went to my next site and fed but getting the traps and food out of the back of the car was extremely difficult because the hatch wouldnt stay up and it was so heavy. When I was at my last site I was sitting in the car with a headache thinking what could have happened and what the next Globe article about we would read, While the city sleeps, crazy cat lady kills herself with car door. Lol. Victoria Ruff sent me a message at this time asking about something and I told her what had happened. She asked me to please dont drive and ask Shari aka Shady Foster to come help me. Told her I was fine and could go trap. Right away I got a message from Shady telling me she was going to be at my house in 30 mins to go help me trap. She doesnt even own a car. I told her no, no need I am fine. I went home to clean up and 30 mins later when I came out of my house there was Shady in a zip car with all kinds of supplies. Tape, scissors bungie cords food, you name it. Off we went. A few hours later I had to stop to get some thing to eat. While eating I got a text from Danapel C de Veer, she was with Siobhan demanding to know where I was. 20 minutes later they arrived. They live nowhere near where we were. Like mother hens they came in. Very politely sitting down with us but very concerned about the cats and me. I told them I still had to do some quick shopping and then back to trying to get the black kitten. Off to the store we went, me and my protectors. Then all the way over to Dorchester they followed. They helped me raise the shelters up off the ground, Siobhan dug up heavy stones that only she could lift and without gloves we secured the shelters so they wouldnt blow over in the wind. They stayed with me and trecked thru the snow covered yards looking for my babies in the freezing cold. Danapel even helped me help a nice neighbor where we were trapping carry in her big bag of rock salt. These women were amazing. You have to understand, they have never trapped or done rescue before but there they were so willing to help, so willing to do anything I asked of them. They care so much about the cats and this all came about because Victoria Ruff thought I needed help and she put out the word to my Feral Cat Warriors. THANK YOU Victoria Ruff, Shari, Danapel and Siobhan. Love you guys.
