Well it has been a whole week since that terrible phone call...a whole week since we thought we had lost our son...a whole week since we entered the most amazing hospital and met the most amazing medical teams around and a whole week since we discovered something we all already knew...that we live in the best community ever. I cant believe it has been a week and what a week it was. I want you all to know that you have witnessed a miracle this week...thats what everyone has said, from doctors, nurses, EMTs, therapists, and police officers...Everyone who has seen this kind of thing before. How else can you explain that a boy was hit by a VAN in an accident that was bad enough that they wanted to airlift him to a hospital, but he did not have any broken bones, no internal injuries, two normal CT scans and escaped with only a bad concussion and road rash? Yes, the concussion is serious but it is a challenge he will be able to tackle with some rehab and hard work. It was a miracle. Now for two stories that I think will make you smile... 1. If you are in critical condition and go to the emergency room, they want to start treating you immediately. They do not want to wait until your information is entered into their system, so they give you a nickname immediately when you walk in the doors instead of using your actual name. Well, Jacob was in critical condition and was consequently named IGUANA TRAUMA. Well, for an entire day they did not have his name in the system and people looking to visit him couldnt find him. Finally the people at the desk started saying, oh, you must be here to see Iguana...so now he is The Iguana. 2. Elijah had a joke going on with one of the therapists. He would hide a toy spider and try to scare her. She would find it and then hide it and try to scare HIM. Well when Elijah left, so did the spider, or so the therapist thought. But what really happened was that Elijah passed the spider on to Jacob and when the therapist came in yesterday and pulled back Jacobs sheets she sure did get a surprise! Now its jakes turn to find the spider :) As usual...thank you to you all for the thoughts, prayers, gifts, food, hugs, and constant love and support!
