Well, it is just after 8pm here in Mafikeng. Our team arrived in the city right around 4:30pm. We left Johannesburg around 11am and drove to Rustenburg where we stopped at McDonalds for lunch (very similar to the US - only slight variations). On the drive up we passed the Mafikeng Game Reserve where some of us saw a giraffe! Upon arriving we quickly dropped our bags off at the mission house and then headed to Top Village where we will doing the majority of our work while in South Africa. We were able to get a tour of the village by one of the village pastors, Papa Joe. We were greeted with friendly waves and many Dumelas (hello in Setswana). There were even a few village children that joined us for our walk. :) At the end of the walk we had the privilege of meeting one of the village chiefs who welcomed us with open arms. We retuned to the mission house where we had dinner followed by a team meeting. Many are preparing for bed as we are still jet-legged. Tomorrow we will attend Papa Joes church in Top Village. Please continue to pray for our adjustment here and for the work The Lord would have us be a part of. It is a bit chillier than we all expected, but beyond that we are very comfortable. :) Wifi is limited at it the house and we only have one access point so please check here for all updates and now we are all safe and enjoying ourselves even if you arent hearing from your team member directly.
