Well it is official, Hyundai has.. well... Screwed me over. Not - TopicsExpress

Well it is official, Hyundai has.. well... Screwed me over. Not once Not twice, but three times. A few weeks ago as I had JUST reached that majical 100,000 mile mark, and of course my warranty ran out, my engine exploded. While sitting still waiting to turn left. Idling. I mean it threw a rod out the bottom of the oil pan. Well of course there was nothing they could do since it was out of warranty... Or was there. I wrote them a nice letter and they must have had some sympathy for me and offered to consider paying for the engine, and I was instructed to provide the milage, vin number and a bill showing I had the car fixed. No mention that I had to take it to a Hyundai dealer at twice the price mind you... So I get it fixed. Found a motor with less that 10,000 miles on it, and $5000 later, I get it back. (Now dont get me wrong, the shop that put it in bent over backwards for me and gave me multiple breaks on prices.) After paying for a new starter that is. 2 Weeks later, the car is dead again. Ahh this feels like a brake safety switch... and it was. So they covered that because I had a recall outstanding on that. Never mind this is switch number 5, so I drive home. 3 days later, car wont start again. A third tow job back to the dealer, and I find out that the starter is bad AGAIN. Bad parts they say. But not before charging me another $240 dollars for diagnostic and labor to put it on. (Understand why I dont like the dealer) OK, so I am still waiting for word on my possible deal on the engine. That is when I was told Nope, you had to take it to a Hyundai dealer for diagnosis. So I ask them how I was supposed to drive a car with a hole the size of a baseball through my oil pan with the rod hanging out to the dealer to have it fixed? Silence. Well, now I am pissed. Not that the engine blew up, but they gave me certain instructions then deny me when their instructions were not explicit enough. Hell, I would not have gone through all the hassle if they had told me up front that I had to take it to a Hyundai dealer. Well, now I am pissed at the car, and if the damn thing understood English or I spoke Korean, Id give it a tongue lashing. The problem is this. the cars are not what they tell you they are. the parts are junk at best. The Customer service people are only interested in getting your VIN so they can record the engine swap and kill any means of getting anything out of the car in trade. And they have the balls to ask me to stop buy and check out the 2014 Sonata. Ahhh, no. Not a chance. If you own one of these, sell it as fast as you can. They are junk. A quick look on the Internet shows that there are thousands just like me with holes in their engine block from a thrown rod. That sort of thing just does happen these days. Unless you have crappy metal in your parts. (Yep, made in China) Well there you have it. I am the number one BAD CUSTOMER now. Buy American!
