Well, it looks like all my Christmas/Post-Christmas spending has - TopicsExpress

Well, it looks like all my Christmas/Post-Christmas spending has been going to my car: Used the lights on my cars dash to see when the oil change was ready (because I bought a car without a working odometer!! Its been stuck at ~117K miles since I started driving it in August/September!! How much is it for a mechanic to fix that??? THREE HUNDRED for a whole new dash unit!! [And thats the estimate before calculating the cost of sales tax and labor!!]). So I went in to change my oil. Was more expensive than the Oil Changer franchise location on El Cajon Blvd. after all but the upside is that I got a high-mileage type of oil because this cars obviously gonna go in 1 to 2 years. Then I learned that my engine belt was going- so I splurged on more than $120 for that just because its more important for me to have a working car than to let things like that go. (I did the smart thing and didnt charge the cost of the engine belt to credit even though more than 75% of the balance was still available- especially since Ive been responsibly charging and carrying up to 20% of the balance on my very first line. Its just not worth it to stain that credit since Ive been desperately trying for 15 years to get a decent FICO score together and this is my very first credit line! Credits pretty easy to figure out once you learn that the name of the game is pretty much that your line is collateral!! Not actual cash! Why are so many people in this country so befuddled over something so straightforward??!!) Then I kept off the freeway just because I learned that my brake-pads are going so Im at the shop where I got my oil changed a couple of days ago, getting those fixed today. I think that my coolant is probably gone and that my air-filter might be dirty and Im worried that that might be wrong with my car. Ai-yai-yai!!! Oi vey! Its a good thing that Im especially cheap when it comes to giving my family gifts for the holidays.
