Well it may be a little maudlin, but i am happy so many channels are showing so many programmes about the kennedy Assassination. We who recall it likely view it as a pivotal event in our lives. So often, when making new friends or meeting new people we ask-or at least I do-what were u doing when kennedy was shot? For those many of us who are baby boomers, we were young children. It scarred us for life. In a good way? In a bad way? I do not know. But i do hope that such a death, surrounded by murky suspicion and supposition even 50 years later, shocked us to our cores and made us resolve, never again! Transparency in government is essential. Anything less than complete honesty and open records is not worthy of the trust of the people. Any politicians who are not honest and frank in their interactions with their constituents--ie the people who HIRE and PAY THEM- should be removed from office. Remember-politicians serve AT THE PLEASURE OF THE PEOPLE. I am sure there are many who will say that Kennedy was not open and transparent. Maybe. Sadly, we shall never really know. But what Kennedy stood for, rightly so or not,--opennneas, idealism, integrity, guts--THOSE things were dealt a killing blow along with the man 50 years ago in Dallas. It is as much for the loss of those things, I think, that we mourn, as for the loss of the man.
