Well it seems the cause of the fire was caused by unannounced - TopicsExpress

Well it seems the cause of the fire was caused by unannounced visitors BBQing. Coals were dumped on site, and potentially children playing with a stick with glowing ember red tip. Ann-Marie was not informed of having any visitors, a friend who had an appointment with AMS said she saw a family BBQ by the Traditional Lodge. WE ARE NOT A CAMPSITE, not a PARK, not a TOURIST DESTINATION. We (Ann-Marie Sayers, Kanyon, and Caretakers of Indian Canyon) open the Canyon for the community - For Indigenous peoples in need of land for ceremony, and for education. We love visitors, we love hosting and educating new people, we just like to be informed of their presence. We also want our visitors to tread lightly on our mother - leaving no trace left behind and even leaving the site as clean or better than it was when you arrived... It is just how we as Indigenous peoples should conduct ourselves, with respect. Kanyon calls it Indigenous Protocol How is dumping hot coals and fire stick on dry land, suffering from drought, respectful? However unintentional their actions were - look what happened.... Why is it, the actions of the few, however intentional/unintentional tend to challenge the kind hearted actions of the many. Kanyon announced - She prays we find this family, she wants to charge them with negligence = 100 hours of indigenous community service hours of FIRE PREVENTION work in the Canyon, for Costanoan Indian Research (hey, they will be able to announce that as valid community service towards a 501c3). This is Sovereign land, lets promote Indigenous Law.
