Well it started off badly, as I canna stand John Barrowman and Karen Dunbar but have to say I enjoyed the rest of the opening ceremony..from the dancing, singing police mannie and wifie in George Square with all the ordinary Glasgow fowk, the volunteers carrying the batons, the athletes so full of enthusiasm and energy, the fundraise for UNICEF in the middle of it..even our tartan ensemble didnt seem so bad after all the fuss (apart from the sockies). Nicola Benedetti, Rod, and the ballet was lovely....although for me they massacred a Proclaimers classic. Have to express some disappointment that our own Olympic medallist Jim Gault is competing in the USA this week instead of Glasgow but maybe curling will one day make the Commonwealth Games too lol :) Lastly, to see Wellingtons statue with the cone as a highlight..well that says it all. Glasgow at its best and our wonderful warm Scottish humour came through...I hope all the athletes and visitors enjoy the games and what our country has to offer. As always, huge pride in our country and very much looking forward to us winning some medals in the coming days..Go Scotland!! :)
