Well it took me more than a day to get around to writing this post, sorry. I had to recover from all the fun I had on Saturday. Ive been playing video games since I was 5 and can still clearly remember the day my brother and I received our NES set for Christmas. I was a gamer from then on out. Wed always go out and play until we wore ourselves out and then come in and play video games. A lot of my favorite memories were playing games with my friends. Some of my favorite: My mom. on Fridays, would rent my brother and I a stack of NES games and bring us Happy Meals. I remember playing Maniac Mansion and the god awful X-men game some of those times. My buddy, who lived down the street from us, got me hooked on playing RPGs. It all started with Shining Force for the genesis but what really sealed the deal was the legendary Final Fantasy 7. The summer he got that we spent so many hours playing that game. I had never grown so attached to any group of video game characters ever before (Spoliers) and when Arieth dies I was absolutely heart broken. Ill also never forget sitting up late with my friends and playing Resident Evil 2 in a pitch black room nearly scaring ourselves to death or the many many hours filling up rooms in with Proximity Mines while playing Goldeneye. We all have those fond memories and experiences and that is what Power Up is about. Its about coming out and meeting other gamers. Interacting with each other and talking about those fun times. To find those old games that maybe you had as a kid or finding those games you wanted so badly that you nagged your parents for months and months but you never got to play. So getting to see all of you come to Power Up so excited and grinning from ear to ear, hanging out, and searching for those old golden games means more to me than I can even properly express. So thank you! I know this was the first year and there were some hiccups and a few issues. With space and the heat (sorry about that!) being the main ones. We plan on definitely finding a bigger room and expanding as much as we can for next year. Hopefully well have more vendors, more gaming stations, more arcade/pinball machines. Were possibly going to have a Cosplay Contest, additional Tournaments (Super Smash Bros Melee), a musical guest and maybe some panels. Lastly I want to thank all of my Volunteers, the Vendors, Jango Snow - Geek Art & Design, VideoGameBoxProtectors, RETRO Magazine, Pins and Needles - Buttons, Patches, and More, Etchgeek and especially all of you who came out to support the Con. Lets keep trying to make our little town of Huntington a fun and exciting place! I hope you all had fun and I cant wait to see you next year!
