Here are the details about clerical things for the break that was emailed to you by my overlords. As a reminder, all vacancies MUST BE READY TO MOVE INTO IMMEDIATELY. Students will be moving in. Usage of these spaces will result in administrative action. Sixth College Winter Break Closing Information Below are some useful dates and reminders for you to keep in mind as we approach the end of the quarter. Fall quarter officially ends on December 20, 2014. All Residence Hall students must vacate the halls by 12:00 noon on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Sat., 12/13, 11:59 pm Quiet Hours are strictly enforced 12/14 – 12/21 Mon., 12/15 Final Exams Monday 12/15 – Saturday 12/20 Wed., 12/17, 4pm Deadline for apartment residents to complete MANDATORY on-line Security Form. Log on to: Winter Break 2014 Stay Form Sat., 12/20 Market will close at 3 PM. Foodworx will close at 6 PM. Market will reopen on Saturday, 1/3 at 3 PM and Foodworx will reopen Saturday, 1/3 at 12 PM. (check below for finals week hours) Sun., 12/21, noon The Residential Halls must be vacated! You will not be able to re-enter until 1/3/2015 at 12:00 pm. (The apartments do not need to be vacated). Sat., 12/20, 9:00 pm The Residential Life Office will close at 9:00 pm. The office will re-open Saturday, 1/3/2015 at 12:00 pm Sat., 1/3/2015 The Residential Halls open at 12:00 pm on Saturday, 1/3/15. There are no exceptions for early arrivals. Sat., 1/3, noon Dining facilities open with lunch. SIXTH MARKET FINALS WEEK HOURS: Sunday, 12/14-Thursday 12/18: Normal hours Friday, 12/19: 7am-9pm Saturday, 12/20: 9am-3pm Sunday, 12/21-Friday 1/2: CLOSED Saturday, 1/3: 3pm-1am Sunday, 1/4: Normal hours resume WHEN LEAVING FOR BREAK: TRASH/FOOD: Please remember to clean and empty your garbage before you depart. This will keep you from returning to a “smelly, bug infested apartment/suite. Please put your trash in the dumpsters. Please remove all garbage bags and recycling from balconies and common rooms. WINDOWS & DOORS: Please lock all windows and doors upon leaving. First floor apartments are encouraged to use the “door stick” for sliding glass doors. If you do not have one, please request one from the res life office. The University is not responsible for stolen articles. Even though RSOs will be making rounds, it is a good idea to secure your unit and take valuables home with you. RESIDENTIAL HALLS: The Residential Halls will close promptly at 12:00 pm, Sunday, December 21. You will not be able to return until 12:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2015. Please plan accordingly. Make sure to lock all windows and doors and (in the spirit of conservation) unplug any non-essential electrical items. Make sure to turn off alarms and clean the common areas and any vacant spaces before the closure. The res life staff will be conducting quick room-by-room inspections on Sunday, December 21 to ensure that all rooms are secure and that there are no potential safety hazards. They will also be looking for misplaced furniture. Closed drawers and closets will not be inspected, but any violations of policy will be documented and referred for conduct follow-up. Anyone found in the Res Halls during the closure will be subject to the conduct process. Policy violations will be documented, and you could be arrested for trespassing. APARTMENTS: You may remain in your apartment over winter break. Guests may also stay in your apartment so long as all apartment mates have consented to it, all guest information is included in the online form listed below, and all issues regarding access to the apartment are arranged between host and guest. Lockout service will not be provided for guests who lock themselves out of an apartment. All University housing policies will be in effect and enforced by the RSOs and staff during holiday breaks. Make sure to turn off alarm clock alarms if you are leaving! ALL APARTMENT RESIDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE MANDATORY ON-LINE SECURITY FORM IF YOU PLAN ON STAYING OR HAVING A GUEST OVER WINTER BREAK. Log on to: Winter Break 2014 Stay Form QUIET HOURS: During Finals Week, 24-hour quiet hours are required and strictly enforced. QUIET HOURS BEGIN Saturday, December 13 at 11:59 pm and extend to Noon on Sunday, December 21. See your RA for details. Remember that other students may have exams after you have finished yours. Please be considerate of your fellow students. RESIDENTIAL LIFE WINTER BREAK HOURS: Our office will close at 9 PM on December 20. We will reopen on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Noon and will resume our regular office hours on Monday, January 5, 2015. LOCK OUTS: Please contact the UCSD Police Department at 858-534-4357 (HELP) if you are locked out during the break. There are no residential life staff on duty over the winter closure. EMERGENCIES: In an emergency, please call the UCSD Police Department at 858-534-4357 (HELP). Emergency 911 Customer Service 858-534-2600 UCSD Police Dept. 858-534-4357 (HELP) MAINTENANCE: If you have any emergency maintenance at any time during break, please call Customer Service at 858-534-2600. Custodial and Maintenance staff may be going through common areas for standard upkeep. MAIL: Please clean out your PO Box before leaving for Winter Break. Mail delivery will be limited over Winter Break. If your box becomes too full, additional mail will be held at Central Mail Services until you return. Mail will NOT be forwarded over the holidays. The parcel centers will be closed over the break.
