Well, its been an emotional week. My wonderful soul mate, brother - TopicsExpress

Well, its been an emotional week. My wonderful soul mate, brother and friend of almost 40 yrs passed today. If you have been living on the planet and never met Alan, it would be like going to Paris and never seeing the Eiffel Tower and you are lesser for it. You missed a beautiful soul, friend, and guru to all. Those who knew him, understand. A teacher and enlightener that traveled the world bringing awareness to young people everywhere, for most of his life. Alan was the author of the childrens book we have been working on for many years; Journey Through the Valley of Fears. You can see some of the work in my timeline from a few days ago. Last week, I sat with Alan, visited, talked, and drew while keeping him company. He made me promise to produce our story as his legacy, which I agreed to do. Its always been one of my missions. The story in rhyme, is ingrained in me with every word memorized for decades, words that Alan crafted from love to share his wisdom through a childrens tale. In our last visit, I was really blown away by the experience. I have been here before, but not really, because I have never been with someone who is passing in a week, knows it, and is completely present, focused, relaxed, regret-less, resigned, sharing his love and kindness with his family and friends, taking calls, reading emails and fb messages, being brave and courageous, giving advice, poignantly discussing thoughts on the afterlife, all with a sense of humor, wisdom, and an incredible amount of dignity. He was teaching right till the last moment and modeled how to do it, with love, not fear. With peace and the blissful satisfaction of a life well lived. I took it all in and the time together was perfect. His son Andy and family were so gracious and supported our beautiful visit. He wanted to see art and the scarves, etc. so we had a little art show. He has always been a big supporter. While sitting there, we heard his incredibly talented and charismatic grandson get frustrated with something in the other room. Alan calls him in to have a chat. From the hall, I hear the most wonderful direction from Alan as he explained that certain kinds of behavior make a person seem small to others and therefore they will be treated that way, hence, not doing the behavior, keeps your respect. Perfect mentoring from the perfect grandfather. The connection between both of them was powerful and the love of his family and their devotion was magical to see. His impact has, is, and will forever be, profound. He was my friend and he will always be my friend. Loved and missed, and divinely blessed to have known him. The image is a mandala I created today for Alan, since he passed in the purity of the winter and he was also from New York, so the image fits. Surrounding the image are ripples, representing his affect far and wide on everyone he met. The birds represent freedom and the white hearts, purity. I circled the art with words representing Alan, But I could not possibly add them all, no words really do him justice. The photo is at my charity mural unveiling in 2009 with my mom and Andrea, Alans beautiful daughter. Namaste my brother
