Well, its been two months today that I embarked on this new gig. I admit to entering it with a little trepidation. To me, cruise ship gigs werent very rock and I was always interested in remaining somehow involved, in some capacity, with a creative situation and original music. But I have to say, the opportunities afforded me by this gig have been tremendous, and I really like the people I am playing with. The travel alone has been life-changing, and the opportunity to meet new people and see new places, cultures and things on an almost daily basis is a gift. Two things I always wanted to do with my life: play music and travel doing it. Well...I am. And I am a lucky son of a gun. Despite minor set-backs like dropping (and breaking) my phone in Helsinki, losing my credit card in Estonia and cracking my iPad screen on ship, I couldnt be happier with the gig. Life is what you make it-and yeah, Im not touring Europe playing drums with Lenny Kravitz, but it IS a good gig. Thanks to the HORIZON guys for having me. I guess the lesson here is that life is what you make of it. Seven more weeks to go-then home to see family and friends-something I am really looking forward to also.
