Well, its my birthday, 62, and I am feeling sentimental, thinking about those whom I love. I just listened to Jimmy Buffets Pencil Thin Mustache on XM and that brought back one of the most pleasant memories ever. Jimmy Buffetts one top 40 song at the time was Come Monday which I really enjoyed but was not magical. Mike Jordan, my friend and fraternity brother, sought me out in the Kappa Sigma house, to say Come on, youve got to hear this. Mike drove a yellow Lemans convertible from which we flew a kite around Memorial Coliseum at the University one time, but that is another story. So we saddled up and as we drove away from the house he started the Jimmy Buffett tape that had Pencil Thin Mustache as one of the songs. I was captivated instantly because Jimmys lyrics hit all the things that a baby boomer grew up with, Ricky Ricardo jacket, Andy Devine, Errol Flynn, the works. That one song made me a Jimmy Buffett fan. Pencil Thin Mustache, from Living and Dying in 3/4 Time....when Jimmy was still in between honky tonk and flirting with his unique Caribbean music. This is only one of the many reasons that I love Mike so much. He also turned me on to Lyle Lovett as well as being there with me so many times both happy and sad. Well have to tell you about the Labor Day weekend in 1973 when we were at the Flor-Bama when it wasnt famous. AEKDB Mike....I love you. https://youtube/watch?v=cXQS4S3vgGA
