Well, its official... quail are MUCH more sensitive to drops in incubator temperature than chickens are! I had a 2 degree F drop in temps for an indeterminate number of days, so I left the eggs in longer to give them a chance to do something. They did something, alright... they gave me a difficult lesson about how many defects it causes in quail. The eggtopsies were enlightening, disturbing, and unforgettable. I also learned that quail can lay viable double-yolk eggs, and I wish things had gone better in the incubator, so I could see if they wouldve survived. They (at least) appeared to be perfectly formed, and it looked as though the egg was roomy enough they might have had a chance.
